Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What do I need to run SCReWBase v6 or Corkscrew Collector v6?
A: SCReWBase v6 and Corkscrew Collector v6 run on Windows XP SP2 or higher and Windows Vista. You need to have at least 700MB of free space on your C: drive to install the programs.
Q: When I went to install, a window popped up about some Microsoft components.
A: SCReWBase v6 and Corkscrew Collector v6 require some Microsoft components to function, namely the .NET Framework v2.0 and SQL Server CE runtime. The license from Microsoft requires that we use a standard distribution technique which involves a licensing screen and the download of the components directly from Microsoft. Your computer must be connected to the Internet in order to complete these steps.
Q: The bundle installed correctly, but when I launch Corkscrew Collector I get an error message: Check the path to the database [File name = C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Screwbase\Collector.sdf].
A: There are some users where the install does not copy that file correctly. If you have this error message, please download this file Missing File Patch and run it to install the missing file. Please note that this will overwrite any existing Corkscrew Collector v6 database file with no way to recover the data, so only use this patch if you are experiencing this specific issue.
Q: I made one change to a record in Corkscrew Collector v6, moved to another record and it did not save the change.
A: If you make just one change to a record and do not move to another field on that record, the system cannot tell that a change has been made. This is a limitation which we cannot fix at this time. The best process to follow is to always click the Save button after making any change to a record..
Q: If I try to add a picture to a new record in Corkscrew Collector v6 I get an error message "System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException...".
A: This happens if the installer did not create the C:\CCIMAGES directory on your hard drive and you do not already have that directory from a previous version of Corkscrew Collector. Create the directory from Windows and the issue will be resolved.
Q: How do I convert data from Corkscrew Collector 3.6 to this new version?
A: The data conversion utility can be downloaded from here. Save this file to your computer and then run it to install the utility.
Q: How do I update the Corkscrew Collector reference data?
A: If you have converted from Corkscrew Collector 3.6 or you have the need to update the reference data in Corkscrew Collector v6, you can use the Update Reference Data Utility.
Download and save this file on your computer and then run it to install the utility. You will find a shortcut to run the utility in your
Corkscrew Collector Program Group. After installation is
complete, run the utility through this shortcut and you will be
notified on screen of the updates it has made. Please note
that you must have Corkscrew Collector v6 closed when you run this utility.
After the utility has completed and you have closed it, you may open
Corkscrew Collector v6 again.
